Spinster Club 2025!
Once a quarter, we will meet to learn a variety of techniques and play with wool. Over the year, we will process a raw fleece from start to finish, except the shearing of the sheep. Unfortunately I don’t have one to shear. Ideally there will be a balance of instruction and time to play and explore. The more people the merrier! Drop-ins are welcome, registrations are preferred so I can plan accordingly (we’ll need enough snacks!).
Things we will do:
March 30th, 2025:
Wash and prep a raw fleece
Intro to fiber types
Intro to spinning and tools
June 29th, 2025:
Finishing prepping fleece for spinning
Carding (hand carders, drum carder)
Spinning and techniques
Drafting styles
Types of spinning (drop spindle, thigh spinning, spinning wheel)
Plying
September 28th, 2025:
Dye fibers
We’ll play around with dyeing wool and hand spun yarn
Using acid dyes, although we may expand to natural dyes depending on interest
Continue spinning fibers
December 14th, 2025
Wrap up our projects
Plan for next year

To participate you can become a member, or just drop-in:
Drop-ins: $5 (pay at the door, can bring own supplies or buy kits on site)
Spinster Level 1:
$10 per quarter
Invited to meetups
Receive a list of materials to bring or buy kit on site
Spinster Level 2:
$40 per quarter
Invited to meetups
Receive a kit of different fibers to play with, and maybe tools, instructions, patterns etc.
Spinster for Life:
$100 per quarter
Invited to meetups
Receive a kit of different fibers to play with, and maybe tools, instructions, patterns etc.
AND the knowledge that your generosity is helping a small family pay the bills and make art possible
***To pay for the full year, be sure to put 4 items in your cart (i.e. spinster level 1 x4 = $40 )***
